In 1991, my husband and I answered an ad for information on Mountain Property in our local Florida newspaper, because we were yearning to go back to the mountains and experience the change of seasons as we had growing up. There was one particular property that caught our eye and, on a trip to a family reunion for which we'd decided to try the new Hwy. 575 corridor, we stopped in Blue Ridge for lunch and discovered the Real Estate company that had sent us the informational brochure. We decided to take just one look...but before leaving Blue Ridge that day, we had made an offer! By 1993, after visiting the area several times in the interim, we'd decided that our "impulse buy" was one of the best decisions we had ever made. We thought we would build a vacation rental property with the intentions of moving here full time in the distant future, when and if we could sell our Florida home, thinking that our 20-year old Stilt home on the Southern-most Hardwood Hammock would take some time to sell. It took 3 days! My 3 daughters were 5, 8 and 11 at the time. Blue Ridge seemed like the perfect place to raise a family and we moved here on Independence Day, 1994. My family is very proud of our involvement of the Fannin County recreational programs. My husband began the first "all girl" soccer team in Fammin County, and my daughters have played on soccer Club Teams in Gwinnett County, as well as the Fannin High School team and their respective college teams. My husband's teams have won the Canterbury Cup in Marietta and the Sugar & Spice Tournament in Douglasville. This was quite an accomplishment for such a newly formed team, especially from the mountains of Fannin County, where soccer was still a relatively "new" sport. I have truly lived the role of the "Soccer Mom" and loved every minute of it.After relocating to Blue Ridge, my husband and I continued our work by re-establishing our small construction business in Blue Ridge, as it afforded us the time with our children only self-employed folks get to enjoy. I'd had considerable experience in Florida, doing everything from managing an office for a large builder, drawing blue prints, estimating costs, determining energy factors and managing 3 construction superintendents, as well as hanging and finishing dry wall. But we also purchased a lot and built our first "spec" home, doing everything from clearing the lot to the hanging of the drywall. One house turned into another house...and then....still another. My husband had been encouraging me for years to get a license in Real Estate fo help sell our own properties, and I finally decided it might be a good idea to follow through, and in August of 1999....I started my Career. Now, some 15 years later, I have been the Fannin County Top Producing Agent for the past 5 years, from 2008 through 2012, and last year I was recognized as the Top Producing Agent in the entire Northeast Georgia MLS, both accomplishments of which I am very proud. I am grateful, too, for each day that I spend and work in these beautiful mountains, and each day I count my many blessings. I encourage you to come and see all that this picturesque, peaceful and playful area has to offer, and to trust my experience to help you make your mountain dreams come true!
