Houston County, located in the central area of the great state of Georgia, was created on May 15, 1821, by the Georgia General Assembly. It is approximately 55 miles south of Atlanta and was originally carved from a portion of Dooly County. The county was named in honor of Governor John Houstoun, who served Georgia as a governor, a Continental Congress delegate, and a Revolutionary War officer. He played a pivotal role in shaping the state's early history.

Perry serves as the county seat, and other notable cities and towns within the county include Warner Robins, Centerville, and Robins Air Force Base (RAFB), a vital hub for the region's economy. The introduction of RAFB during World War II significantly impacted Houston County, ushering in a period of rapid economic growth and urbanization that still continues today.

In terms of geography, Houston County covers an area of around 380 square miles and features diverse landscapes ranging from pine forests to rolling hills and agricultural land. The Ocmulgee River flows along the county's eastern border, providing various recreational opportunities and contributing to its rich natural resources.

This well-loved 10-day event celebrates Georgia's agriculture and heritage, featuring a variety of educational exhibits, thrilling carnival rides, concerts, livestock shows, and much more.
