President and Principal Broker of Coast Properties Ltd. is a resident of Hawaii for over 30 years. Mr. Prattas entered real estate by joining Century 21 Associated Realty in February, 1985, specializing in land sales.
In May, 1988, Mr. Prattas was promoted to Broker-In-Charge. In just five months, he was promoted to Principal Broker supervising a staff of 30 real estate agents--the largest of any real estate firm in Kona at the time. That year, Century 21 Kailua-Kona, Inc. rose to number four in sales in the Pacific region, competing against some sixty other Century 21 offices . . . a first for a Big Island Franchise.
In 1989, Mr. Prattas started his new real estate corporation, Coast Properties Ltd., which now serves the Kona-Kohala Coast from its Kailua-Kona office staffed by 9 full-time Realtors.
Stathie Prattas was elected President-Elect of the 650-plus member Kona Board of Realtors in late 1996, and served as the 1998 President of the Big Island's largest professional trade organization.
In addition, Mr. Prattas served as a director of the Hawaii Association of Realtors (the 10,000 member state association) in 1997, and as a Vice-President in 1998, as well as a Trustee of the association's Legal Defense Fund. He has since been re-elected to another two year term as a Director-At-Large, ending in 2011, as well as a member of the HAR Government Affairs Committee, and Standard Forms Committee.
Stathie attended the University of Hawaii-Manoa, College of Business Administration in the early 1970s. Further, As an attribute to his real estate career, Mr. Prattas received his certification as a Hawaii Paralegal in February, 1996, from the University of Hawaii-Hilo, taught by Colorado attorney Scott A. Hatch, J.D. The paralegal field has been a tremendous resource in Mr. Prattas' real estate practice, and in its application to business contracts & real estate law. In addition, Mr. Prattas has completed the certificate core courses required for an Appraiser's license in Hawaii.
In addition, Mr. Prattas served as a director of Hawaii Information Service (2001-2002), a multi-million dollar Hawaii data information corporation which provides a regional Multiple Listing Service for members of the Kona, Hawaii Island, and Kauai Boards of Realtors, as well as public records and real estate market data for corporate subscribers world-wide.
In November of 2004, Mr. Prattas was presented with the Kona Board of Realtors prestigious annual award for Most Creative Advertising for 2003 at their annual awards banquet (an award voted upon by the entire Realtor membership). They recently nominated him for their Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award.
Currently, Stathie is the Kona Board of Realtors appointed member to the Hawaii Association of Realtors Standard Forms Committee, which creates and updates all of the standard real estate forms used by the entire Hawaii real estate industry, and served as its Chairman in 2007. In addition, Mr. Prattas is one of only two members of the National Association of Realtors State & Local Issues Committee.
In 2005, Mr. Prattas was elected to a three-year term as President of the Konawaena Foundation, a non-profit, tax-exempt educational organization dedicated to enhancing the curriculum at Konawaena High School.
In recent years, Mr. Prattas has been educated at seminars and symposiums covering study in: Organization Management, Internet Applications for Real Estate, Real Estate Ethics, Real Estate Contract Law, Managing Communications With Technology, Interpersonal Communications, Analysis of Income and Investment Properties, Hawaii Landlord-Tenant Code Issues, Broker Risk Reduction, Survey Techniques in Hawaii, and Annual Changes to Hawaii Real Estate Law. Additionally, Mr. Prattas has been a court certified expert witness in a number of real estate litigations in Hawaii. In July 2010, Mr. Prattas received the National Association of Realtors GREEN designation, having completed a series of courses on Green building technologies for a sustainable future, specializing in commercial buildings.
Some of his activities have included representing America's largest corporation, Wal-Mart, in the acquisition of their new fee simple Kona store site; as well as being selected by Hawaiiana Mgt. Co. (Honolulu) to run all rental site operations for the 85 unit apartment complex at The Greens in Waikoloa Village, South Kohala; and other successful projects.
