The Hawaii state quarter was released in 2008 and was designed by local artist Misty Seabright. The design features a Hawaiian monk seal, a surfboard, and palm trees on the beach. Additionally, the Hawaiian state motto "Ua Mau ke Ea o ka Aina i ka Pono" (which translates to "The Life of the Land is Perpetuated in Righteousness") is inscribed on the quarter. The design also features a wave to represent the ocean and various elements of the Hawaiian culture, such as a hibiscus flower and a canoe paddle. The design also includes a scroll with the date of Hawaii's statehood, August 21, 1959.

The second Hawaii State Quarter

The Hawaii National Park quarter is part of the America the Beautiful Quarters program, which was launched in 2010 to honor 56 national parks and other national sites. Each quarter features a design that celebrates the unique characteristics of each site.

The Hawaii National Park quarter was released in February 2021. The design features Kilauea, the world's most active volcano, as it appears from the nearby Puu Loa overlook. The reverse side of the quarter displays an image of a native Hawaiian hala tree and its leaves, which are symbols of peace, grace, and beauty. The design also includes the words "Hawaii Volcanoes," "2021," and "E Pluribus Unum."

The Hawaii National Park quarter is a symbol of the state's natural beauty and its commitment to preserving its natural resources. The design also pays homage to the native Hawaiian culture, which has a deep spiritual connection with the land and its history. The quarter is a reminder of the importance of protecting and preserving the environment for future generations.
