Anamosa is a small town located in Jones County, Iowa, with a population of around 5,000 people. The town is known for its historic state penitentiary, which was established in 1873 and is still in operation today. Anamosa is also home to the Anamosa State Park, which features hiking trails and picnic areas, and the Wapsipinicon State Park, which is located just outside of town and offers camping and hiking opportunities.
