Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Iowa State Quarter

The Iowa state quarter was released in 2004. It was created by Iowa artist Gary H. Moore. The design features a one-room schoolhouse with a teacher and student, representing the importance of education in Iowa. The schoolhouse is flanked by an ear of corn and a bald eagle, representing Iowa's agricultural roots and national pride. The date 1846 is featured on the coin, which is the year Iowa became a state. The design also includes the state motto, "Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain."

The second Iowa State Quarter

The Iowa quarter was released into circulation on August 5, 2019, as part of the United States Mint's America the Beautiful Quarters Program. It is the fifth quarter issued in 2019 and the thirty-seventh overall in the series.

The design of the Iowa quarter features a one-room schoolhouse surrounded by a teacher and students planting a tree. The design is meant to represent the importance of education in Iowa. The Latin phrase "Educate & Inspire" is inscribed at the bottom of the design, while the words "Iowa" and "E Pluribus Unum" appear along the coin's edge.

The reverse side of the quarter features a picture of the Effigy Mounds National Monument, located in northeast Iowa. The view is of Bird's-eye view of the mounds, which were built by Native Americans more than 1,000 years ago. The inscriptions "Effigy Mounds," "Iowa," and "2019" are inscribed along the edge of the coin.

The Effigy Mounds National Monument is an important cultural site for Native Americans. The mounds are believed to have served a variety of purposes, including as burial sites, ceremonial and gathering places, and religious sites. The site is a reminder of the long Native American history of the area and the importance of preserving cultural heritage.
