Bingham County, located in the southeastern region of the great state of Idaho, was established on January 13, 1885. Named after Henry Harrison Bingham, a prominent U.S. Congressman, the county was originally a part of Oneida County. Bingham County has a rich history, primarily influenced by the pioneering spirit, agriculture, and Native American tribes such as the Shoshone and Bannock.

Blackfoot, the county seat, originally began as a small settlement in 1878 with residents engaging in farming and ranching. As the area grew, so did its economic activities, with the expansion of the railroad and agriculture playing a significant role in the county's development. The establishment of the Oregon Short Line Railroad in the 1880s further contributed to Bingham County's connectivity and growth.

A fun fact about Bingham County is that it is home to the Idaho Potato Museum, located in Blackfoot. The museum displays the importance of potatoes in Idaho's history and economy and houses the world's largest potato chip, showcasing the county's deep connection to the potato industry. Bingham County's fertile land makes it one of the top potato-producing counties in Idaho, a state well-known for its potatoes.
