A fun fact about the city of Harvard, Illinois is that it is known as the "Milk Center of the World" because it was once home to more than 20 different creameries and was a major hub for dairy production and processing in the early 20th century. Harvard is still home to one of the largest milk processing plants in the country, owned by Dean Foods.
