Carthage is a small village located in Rush County, Indiana with a population of approximately 813 people. The village was founded in 1831 and was named after the ancient city of Carthage in Tunisia. It is known for its historic architecture, including the Carthage Courthouse, which was built in 1893 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. Carthage also hosts an annual community festival, called Carthage Heritage Days, which includes a parade, live music, food vendors, and other fun activities for all ages.
