A fun and verifiable fact about Ladoga, Indiana is that it was once home to a famous racehorse named Dan Patch. Dan Patch was the most famous harness racehorse in the early 1900s and who set a world record for the fastest mile in harness racing. He was born and raised in nearby Oxford, Indiana, but Ladoga was the home of his owner, Daniel Messner Jr., and the location of Dan Patch's training grounds. Today, there is a museum and memorial dedicated to Dan Patch in Oxford.
