Westport, Indiana is a small village with a population of around 1,300 people. It was founded in 1836 and named after the English port town of Westport. The town is located on the banks of the Sand Creek, and agriculture has been an important part of the local economy since its founding. Westport is also home to several historical landmarks, including the Westport Covered Bridge, which was constructed in 1880 and is now the last remaining covered bridge in Decatur County.
