Scottsburg is a small town with a population of approximately 6,700 people. It was founded in 1871 and is named after Horace Scott, a local landowner. The town is known for its historic downtown area, which features a number of locally owned shops and restaurants. Scottsburg is also home to several parks and recreational facilities, including the Scott County Family YMCA and the Hardy Lake State Recreation Area. The town hosts a variety of annual events, such as the Scott County Fair and the Christmas in Scottsburg celebration.
