Why select Lee Blakeman as your REALTOR? Good question! Heres my answer:

I have lived in Bowling Green, Kentucky my entire life (minus my time in graduate school see below). My father Bernard W. Blakeman, Jr. has been a Professional Land Surveyor in South Central Kentucky since 1970. I grew up working alongside him from the time I was a student at Drakes Creek Middle School until I was around 31 years old. We frequently were surveying property that was to be divided so it could be sold at auction. The REALTOR/auctioneer who most frequently used my dad was Thomas R. Hunt who is now the Principal Broker I work with at Weichert REALTORS - The Hunt Group! One of my dad's long-term employees Rex Board was himself a REALTOR for a time and I learned quite a bit from him as well (theres a lot of time to talk when youre surveying an entire farm walking the boundary every step of the way).

Working for a surveyor, you learn many things about the buying and selling of property through investigating PVA, deed, plat, right-of-way & zoning records, the plotting of deeds, the surveying itself in the field, the drawing of plats, the writing of new property descriptions for new deeds, the recording of deeds & plats, the process of rezoning property, FIRM (flood) maps, the Bowling Green/Warren County Comprehensive Plan, Planning & Zoning hearings, plot plans for new construction (its impossible to build a square house with footers dug out-of-square!), among many other things. An important thing I learned from working with my dad is what it means to treat every person fairly regardless if the job was large or small. Every boundary line, property corner, fence, garage, utility easement, house, farm, commercial property is important when it comes to someones dirt and everything attached thereto!

I did not follow in my dads footsteps, however. I obtained a music education degree from Western Kentucky University and a masters degree in music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. I have worked as a part-time college professor at WKU since 2004 as well as a part-time musician in at least ten different orchestras. Additionally, I have served as personnel manager for Orchestra Kentucky of Bowling Green since 2005. This has put me in a position of learning how to be a better teacher, colleague, employee, etc. over the years. Working with musicians has taught me that listening and waiting to learn more about each individual before I begin to offer my thoughts and opinions about matters goes a long way to fostering better relationships. My hope is that these experiences will help to facilitate the development of relationships with my real estate clients.

I understand that many of you already have REALTORS you trust, but, over time, I hope to earn the trust of future buyers and sellers one transaction at a time.
