My adventure in real estate started when I was in HS. I ended up working for my great uncle Jerry Kelley in his broker/appraisal office in 1987-88. Doing everything from research in the county courthouses, going on inspections, looking for comparables to form filling. Which gave me a little taste of the industry. Looking thru the old MLS books at the pics and houses for sale (this was way before realtorwww and the internet) with a small description of the property and maybe 1 B&W pic, was a normal day.
Fast forward a few years, I am working in a different field using my degree in Wildlife Biology. Traveling to 4 states doing assembly programs using all types of LIVE Wildlife. It was nothing if you came to my house to see everything to hawks, owls, 10 Burmese pythons, alligators, bobcats, racoons and many others. Entertaining and informing people everywhere from schools, libraries to state parks for 12 years. When life threw me a curveball. I have always heard its not what happens to you that defines you its how you react to it.
I found myself a single dad raising 2 young boys. Life has a way of making you reevaluate the important things. At that point I decided what was important. I had to find a career that allowed me flexible time to be able to share my life with my boys. I decided to go back to what I enjoyed doing many years ago. I approached my great uncle Jerry and he did something he never had to do. He took me under his wing and began to train me to be a General Appraiser.( Appraisers have to do a apprenticeship with a supervising Appraiser) I will always be in debt to him for doing that when he was about to retire. During that time I also decided to get my broker license and auctioneer license. He had a lot of patience with me and encouraged me throughout and guided me.
Fast Forward again. I get my General Appraiser Certification and Broker License in 2009-2010 and open my own office on my own. Not always as easy as it sounds. I have was blessed with many different business connections before I went out on my own but still had some bumps and bruises. As with any small business there are good decisions and some not so good ones. But through it all again its not what life throws at you its how you handle them.
I have been blessed throughout this journey to be able to not only be able to do most of what I wanted with my boys but also build a successful business that provides a valuable service to the area. The appraisal side of my business has given me a great picture of this area and the areas I cover. Although larger than most Realtors tend to cover, my work with appraisals in these areas help me keep a good pulse on these areas.
My outlook is one of serving my customers and clients to my best ability and to be able to give them all the options I can to make their experience the best I physically can. Thats why we say a full service real estate company. We can do as much or as little as you want us to do for you. We are here to serve you! Our goal is to give you what other offices cant and to serve you and your needs.
