Warren County, located in south-central Kentucky, was established on December 14, 1796, from a portion of Logan County. The county is named in honor of General Joseph Warren, an American Revolutionary War hero who died at the Battle of Bunker Hill. The city of Bowling Green, Warren County's seat, officially became a town in 1812 and later played a significant role during the Civil War.

Strategically located between the Union and Confederate lines, Bowling Green was initially captured by the Confederates in 1861, serving as their capital for a brief period. However, in February 1862, it was reclaimed by the Union after the Confederate forces retreated. The Confederate-Union tensions can still be experienced through the historical sites in the county, such as the Civil War Discovery Trail.

A fun fact about Warren County is that Bowling Green is home to the National Corvette Museum, which showcases the iconic American sports car's history and models since its inception in 1953. The Corvette Assembly Plant, the only location where Corvettes are manufactured, is also in Bowling Green, making the area synonymous with legendary sports cars.
