Nortonville is a small village with a population of just over 1,000 people. It was founded in the late 19th century as a coal mining community, and mining continued to be the primary industry in the area for many years. Today, Nortonville is a quiet, rural community with a post office, several churches, and a number of small businesses. It is located about 20 miles northwest of Hopkinsville, and about 50 miles northeast of Evansville, Indiana.
