Flat Lick is a small unincorporated community located in Knox County, Kentucky. Here are some interesting facts about the village:

1. Flat Lick was originally called Turkey Creek and was settled in the late 1700s.

2. The village got its name from a lick, which is a natural salt deposit where animals would gather to lick the salt. The lick in Flat Lick was flat and extended for several miles.

3. The Flat Lick Baptist Church, which was founded in 1799, is one of the oldest churches in Kentucky.

4. The Civil War Battle of Flat Lick was fought on August 17, 1863, near the village. Confederate forces led a raid against Union troops, destroying three bridges and capturing several horses and mules.
