Iberia Parish is located in the south-central region of Louisiana, along the Gulf Coast. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 73,240 people. The racial makeup of the parish is 65.2% White, 32.1% African American, 0.5% Native American, 0.6% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, and 1.4% from two or more races.

The median income for a household in Iberia Parish was $36,922, and the median income for a family was $46,304. The per capita income for the parish was $17,867. About 22.9% of families and 27.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 36.8% of those under age 18 and 20.9% of those age 65 or over.
