Framingham, Massachusetts is a historic city located approximately 20 miles west of Boston. It was incorporated in 1700 and served as an important stop along the Boston Post Road, a major colonial highway. Framingham is known for being the location of the world-renowned Framingham Heart Study, a long-term study of the causes of heart disease. The city is also home to Framingham State University, the largest state university in the Massachusetts State College and University System. Today, Framingham is a diverse community with a population of around 70,000 people and a thriving business and cultural scene.
