Brian fell in love with Garrett County through whitewater kayaking here on the world class rapids of the wild and scenic Youghiogheny River. He says "it's one of the best places in the U.S. for kayaking." The 2014 World Whitewater Kayak Championships were hosted here. Brian competed in the 1992 Olympic Trials held here on the Savage River, almost qualifying for the Olympic Team.
