I've spent most of my professional life working for non-profit organizations. I grew up in Parsippany, NJ and went to school at Hofstra University in Long Island, NY (a terrific school!) After graduation I worked for my alma mater in the alumni/development office. In addition to my alma mater, i've worked for: Share Our Strength -- A national hunger relief organization, Nurture: The Center to Prevent Childhood Malnutrition, The Kamber Group - a DC PR firm, and most recently The University of Maryland.

I moved to DC in the summer of 1992. I had a great apartment at the corner of 17th & S. 5 years and $40,000 later, I realized it was time to buy. With almost no savings, and bad credit I managed to beg, borrow and...(well I just begged and borrowed,) and came up with a down payment, and secured a mortgage at a higher than normal interest rate. I bought a 3,000 sq. ft. office space at the corner of Kalorama and Champlain Streets in Adams Morgan (just off 18th St.) I slowly turned the office space into a pretty cool, industrial loft type home. I loved every minute of it. I sold it 4 years later at five times what I had paid for it. Surely, there was a lot of luck involved, but I knew that owning a home could and would change my life. The moral of this story: Don't let anything keep you from buying a home.

I got into real estate because I believe everyone should own their own home. Unfortunately, todays real estate economy does not encourage low and middle income people to plunge into the home buying market. Yes, there are a plethora of new low or no down payment mortgages out there, but with fierce competition for properties resulting in sellers choosing purchasers with large earnest money deposits, first-time buyers low on cash get squeezed out of the market. Additionally, most agents with any experience would rather cultivate bigger ticket clients. Why? Cause they make a whole lot more per transaction. I am dedicating my real estate practice to bringing first-time home buyers into the market and convincing those that think it out of their reach, to take the plunge.

Given my experience in transforming my 3,000 sq ft. office into a great home, I am well-suited to help you spot the same potential. Although no one can expect to enjoy the success I was lucky enough to have, you can benefit from my special, spacial vision. By scouring commercial listings as well as residential listings, we might find some extraordinary space for you too.
