Fairplay is a small rural village located in central Washington County, Maryland. It has a population of around 600 people and is known for its history and charm. The town was founded in the late 1700s and played a role in the Civil War, as Confederate and Union troops marched through the town in 1862. The village is home to a number of historic homes and buildings, including St. Paul's Episcopal Church, which was built in 1820. Fairplay also features a community park, a general store, and a volunteer fire department.
