Funkstown is a small historic village with a population of around 1,000 people. It was founded in the late 1700s and was a popular stop for travelers along the National Road, which passed through the village. Today, Funkstown is known for its antique shops, historic buildings, and annual events such as Old Tyme Christmas and the Battle of Funkstown reenactment. The village also has a rich Civil War history, as it was an important location during the Antietam Campaign of 1862.
