Practicing law for over five years gave Kate the calm, assured demeanor to guide her clients through stressful and difficult transactions. As co-owner at Azure Cafe in Freeport which she and her husband opened and ran very successfully for over seventeen years, service was everything. There, Kate learned that providing a top-level guest experience and sourcing the best local products was critical to making a local, independent restaurant business succeed in Maine. She calls it the Azure experience when she talks about customer care in all her endeavors.
Kate grew up in Maines midcoast and now calls Freeport (where LL Bean is located) home. She earned her Bachelors of Arts from University of Maine and University of Southern Maine in Political Science and Government - and then went on to earn her law degree at the University of Maine Law School. Kate studied graphic design at the Maine College of the Arts and mastered the art of social media outreach and marketing. She personally designed the current home webpage for Balsam Realty and oversees all the marketing processes involved for the company. Her eye for style and design serve the companies real estate mission of getting the best presentation for any and all the properties the company undertakes to market.
She has organized and run many successful charitable events, has tirelessly pursued the improvement of education in local schools and oversaw the donation of tens of thousands of dollars a year from Azure Cafe to the midcoast community. Kate and her husband bought and managed a multi-unit apartment building in Brunswick from 1999 to 2016. She sold the building on her own, and learned the unexpected challenges of selling for sale by owner, even for someone with a law degree.
She also was involved in the organization, staging, clearing of title, purchase and sale of her familys homes over the years - learning how working with a substandard agent can be a serious hindrance - while a good real estate agent can be a guide for a calm, efficient and even exciting sale or purchase. Kate is ready to put her passion for law, real estate, service, marketing and design and her business and organizational acumen to work for you.
