Torie is a Maine native and graduate of Bar Harbor's College of the Atlantic, which was founded by her Uncle Jim Gower, and holds a degree in Human Ecology. Torie has been actively performing brokerage transactions on Mount Desert Island for over 30 years.
Her skills in real estate are augmented by her love for the history of our island especially its architectural history, with a focus on shingle-style homes. Her specialized knowledge enabled two notable Mount Desert Island sales: August Moon, Brooke Astor's Tea House, and Skylands, Edsel Ford's estate which was purchased by Martha Stewart. Torie appreciates balancing the aesthetics of a home with its surrounding land, favoring native landscapes, and using what she has learned over the years with notable landscape architects and interior designers. She has had featured properties in Architectural Digest, Wall Street Journal, and Martha Stewart Living magazine.
Torie is a board member for the Somesville Library, is involved with the Hancock County Master Gardener Volunteers, and growing food for local communities. In her spare time, Torie indulges her deep appreciation for our beloved Acadia National Park, its carriage roads, flora and fauna, ponds and lakes, and she continues to work for preservation.
