Franklin County is located in the north-central part of Maine. It is bordered by Somerset County to the east, Kennebec County to the south, and Oxford County to the west. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Franklin County has a population of 30,868 people as of 2020. Of this population, 98.5% are White, 0.6% are African American, 0.3% are Asian, 0.1% are Native American, and 0.2% are two or more races. The living conditions in Franklin County are generally rural and somewhat isolated.
