Limestone is a town in Aroostook County, Maine, located about 10 miles southwest of the city of Caribou. It is known for its proximity to the Loring Air Force Base, which was active from 1951 to 1994 and was a major Cold War installation used for bomber and fighter jet operations. The base now houses an industrial park with numerous businesses and the Maine Military Historical Society Museum. The town also offers recreational opportunities such as hiking on the Appalachian Trail, fishing in the Aroostook River, and hunting in the nearby forests.
