A fun and verifiable fact about the village of Phippsburg, Maine is that it is home to the oldest shipyard in continuous use in the United States, the Percy & Small Shipyard, which was established in 1876. The shipyard is famous for building large sailing ships, including one of the largest ever built in the United States, the Wyoming, which was launched in 1909 and measured 450 feet long. The shipyard is now used for repairing and restoring historic ships.
