New Portland is a small town located in Somerset County, Maine. It has a population of just over 700 people and covers an area of about 41.5 square miles. The town is known for its beautiful scenery and outdoor recreation opportunities, including hunting, fishing, hiking, and skiing. New Portland is also home to several historic landmarks, including the Wire Bridge, a unique pedestrian suspension bridge that dates back to 1879. The town is named after Portland, Maine, but was given the prefix "New" to avoid confusion with the larger city.
