Front of the US quarter dollar coin   Michigan State Quarter

The Michigan state quarter was created in 2003 and features the state's official motto, "Si Quaeris Peninsulam Amoenam Circumspice," which translates to "If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you." The design of the quarter includes a map of Michigan, the state's official bird (the American robin), and an outline of the Lower Peninsula, which features the Great Lakes. The map is surrounded by a design of the state flower (the apple blossom), the state tree (the white pine), and the state stone (the Petoskey stone). The reverse side of the quarter features the State Capitol building in Lansing, along with the phrase "Great Lakes and Bridges." The design of the quarter was created by Kathy Williams.

The second Michigan State Quarter

The Michigan National Park Quarter is part of the United States Mint's America the Beautiful Quarters Program. This program features designs of national parks or other national sites in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five U.S. territories. The Michigan quarter was released on July 6, 2020 and features Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

The obverse of the Michigan quarter features the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan. The reverse of the quarter depicts a view of the park's Chapel Rock and its surrounding beach and water, with a white pine in the foreground. The design includes the inscriptions "PICTURED ROCKS", "MICHIGAN", "2020", and "E PLURIBUS UNUM".

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is located along the shore of Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It is known for its spectacularly colored sandstone cliffs, beaches, sand dunes, waterfalls, lakes, and forest vegetation. The park was established in October 1966 to protect its unique geologic features and cultural history. Chapel Rock is one of the most iconic features of the park, and is a prominent symbol of the park's natural beauty.
