Cedar County is a picturesque county located in the great state of Missouri within the United States. Established on February 14, 1845, it was named after Cedar Creek, a prominent stream in the area. The county was carved out from parts of Dade, Polk, and St. Clair counties. Cedar County is a part of the Springfield-Branson metropolitan area and covers an area of 498 square miles. Stockton is the county seat, and other key towns in the region include El Dorado Springs, Jerico Springs, and Umber View Heights.

In the early days, European settlers, mainly of English, Irish, and German descent, migrated to the region in the 1830s and were drawn to the fertile land and abundant resources. Cedar County was predominantly an agricultural community. Its advantageous position near Cedar Creek and location along several key transportation routes facilitated trade and economic growth in the area.

One fun fact about Cedar County is that it attracts many visitors and residents for outdoor recreational activities such as hunting, fishing, and camping, largely due to Stockton Lake. This man-made reservoir was completed in 1973 and is a major attraction for water sports and outdoor enthusiasts. Additionally, the picturesque landscape and friendly towns make Cedar County, Missouri, a great place to explore and experience authentic Midwestern charm.
