Miller County is located in the central part of Missouri, USA. Established on February 6, 1837, the county was named in honor of John Miller, a distinguished military officer and the fourth Governor of Missouri from 1825 to 1828. The county seat, Tuscumbia, was settled by European Americans in the early 19th century.

Before Europeans arrived, the region was inhabited by Native American tribes, primarily the Osage Indians. With the expansion of European settlements, many Native American tribes were forced out of the area. Miller County is situated in the Ozark Plateau and is a part of the Missouri Ozarks region known for its picturesque topography, featuring rolling hills, streams, and forests.

Agriculture is a significant aspect of Miller County's economy, with dairy farming and raising beef cattle as its main focus. Tourism also plays a role in the local economy, as lake resorts in neighboring counties attract visitors to the region.

Fun fact: Miller County is home to the renowned Swinging Bridges of Brumley, two historic wooden bridges built in the 1930s The Mill Creek Bridge and the Auglaize Bridge. These bridges were designed using the relatively rare wire suspension and are part of Missouri's rich engineering history.
