One fun and verifiable fact about Buckner, Missouri is that it was named after a railroad official, Simon Buckner, who was also a Confederate general during the American Civil War. The town was founded in 1870 and originally called Manchester, but due to confusion with another town of the same name, it was later renamed Buckner in honor of the railroad official.
