Lone Jack is a small village in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. It is situated about 35 miles east of Kansas City, Missouri. The village was named after a solitary jack oak tree that stood in the prairie where the settlement was eventually established.
Lone Jack played a significant role in the American Civil War, as a battle was fought in the village on August 16, 1862. The battle resulted in a Confederate victory, but it was a costly one as both sides suffered heavy casualties.
Today, Lone Jack is a peaceful rural area that attracts visitors with its historic sites, beautiful natural scenery, and recreational opportunities.
