Brooksville is a small village located in Noxubee County, Mississippi, with a population of roughly 1,100 people. It was founded in the 1840s and named after Preston Brooks, a former U.S. congressman from South Carolina. The village has a few historic buildings still standing, including the Brooksville Baptist Church, which was built in 1852 and is still in use today. Brooksville also has an annual festival called the Piney Woods Festival that celebrates the town's cultural heritage and includes carnival rides, live music, and food vendors.
