It seems natural that this couple would settle here. The two Winston and Whitney met while students at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and it was "love at first sight," Winston says, a sentiment Whitney echoes. While they enjoyed their life in Charlotte, they found themselves drawn to the Outer Banks. The newly wed couples love of the outdoors and the area's natural beauty made it the perfect choice for a new life.
Winston is a graduate of UNC-Charlotte and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration concentration in small business management and finance. Winston has been worked in sales and consulting since graduating college, but began his real estate career as a commercial real estate broker in Charlotte, NC. He started in 1994 and after a few years of commercial real estate under his belt, he was shown the excitement by his father in-law of residential home sales. His hard work allowed his to quickly rise through the ranks and gained notoriety and success for his efforts.Since 1994 Winston has made real estate his full time career and with experience in commercial property, residential real estate sales and vacation home real estate brokerage. Winston has a strong financial background and personal investment experience.
While on a short weekend trip to the Outer Banks in 1997 to visit his family (also in real estate), he and his new bride Whitney decided to make an offer on a house. In 30 days these kids relocated to Kitty Hawk from Charlotte, NC. This is where the fun truly began, Winston was able to combine the investment (rental) quality with the residential home business, which is the majority of transactions on the Outer Banks. As a Broker, REALTOR and personal investor, Winston brings a thorough understanding of each aspect of the business and takes great pride in the personal attention, knowledge and guidance that he is able to provide for each of his clients.
Things have changed quite a bit since that impulsive, spur of the moment idea to move the beach in 1998. Everyone thought they were crazy, after all they had perfectly good jobs in Charlotte. They have since built a family and raised their two boys Max and Levi. Since they arrived both Winston and Whitney's siblings have since relocated to the the area.
A community that gives back is a great place. In addition to a professional and busy personal life, Winston enjoys giving back to this community. He is a former member and past President of the First Flight Rotary Club. He is a two time a Paul Harris Fellow and past Chairman of the annual Rotary fundraiser, the OINK & OYSTER ROAST. He served 4 years on the Roanoke Island Commission as Chairman of the NC Maritime History Museum on Roanoke Island. Winston has also served on the Board of Directors for the Southern Shores Civic Association (SSCA) as liaison for the Architectural Review Board. He has coached for various youth sports throughout the years with Dare parks and recreation and Babe Ruth Baseball. Winston is a former Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 117 in Kitty Hawk.
There are many fun things to do here when not working, Winston loves the Outer Banks and anything in the outdoors, passions include Fishing, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, hanging out with friends on the beach, boating, sunset cruises and of course Duck Hunting.
"Life gives you lemon, lets make some lemonade." After loosing his mother to Ovarian Cancer in 2008, Winston made a decision to return to East Carolina University to earn his degree in Nursing as a Registered Nurse he is able to work a few days a week to provide service to both our local and visitor population at the Outer Banks Hospital as an RN.
