Shannon Watkins has been a REALTOR for over 11 years. She is a native of Western North Carolina who grew up in the sleepy town of Marshall but she spent most of her free time growing up in Downtown Asheville. Shannon pulled herself up by her bootstraps and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Shannon also took many classes in Philosophy and History, but Poli Sci was the most challenging. Shannon bought her first property at age 24 and continues to invest in real estate because she believes it is the most stable investment a person can make, and it often has the highest return on investment To say Shannon is an expert in all things Asheville and WNC would be an understatement. Shannon follows many local chefs and entrepreneurs on social media, follows blogs and local news, and she keeps up with everything noteworthy happening in Downtown Asheville. Shannon enjoys giving tours of Downtown Asheville to her clients and loves to show them why she is so proud of her home.Shannon and her husband, Tom, enjoy traveling in the United States as well as internationally. Some of her past destinations include The Grand Canyon, Colorado, Arizona, New York City, India, Spain, the Bahamas, and Chile. Shannon's husband proposed to her at the Taj Mahal in India and that experience in India changed her life. In 2012, she and her husband hiked El Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage trail that runs through the North of Spain. Shannon traveled to Torres del Paine National Park in the Patagonia region and Valparaiso, Chile. Chile is a stunning country that reminded Shannon of home in the mountains. The conservation of land and beauty of nature are two of Shannon's greatest passions. Shannon believes that travel is the best education one can receive, but there is no place in the world quite like home in Asheville, North Carolina. Shannon has found a clear tangible icon of home in the mountains that welcome you when driving back home to WNC,Shannon enjoys the challenges and learning experience that working in real estate constantly provides. She is a tireless worker when given a task. Shannon is very organized and has a great appreciation for technology and she is not intimidated by it one bit. One of Shannon's greatest past accomplishments is that she was able to create the first entirely paperless file system at a large law firm where she worked in construction litigation. She taught classes at the firm on technology and eventually helped other teams within the firm "go paperless" as well. Fluently using many real estate tools such as the Geographic Information System (GIS), Online Deeds, the MLS System and many other tools allows Shannon to answer your questions and provide you with the most timely information. Shannon strives to educate her clients and help them appreciate the Western North Carolina area as much as she does.
