Granite Quarry is a small village in Rowan County, North Carolina. It is located 10 miles southeast of Salisbury, the county seat. As its name suggests, the village is known for its granite quarry, which was opened in 1889 and has been a major source of granite for construction projects throughout the eastern United States. The quarry is still in operation today and is owned by the North Carolina Granite Corporation, which employs over 200 people.
The village of Granite Quarry has a population of approximately 3,000 people and covers an area of 2.77 square miles. The village is served by the Granite Quarry-Faith Joint Police Department and the Granite Quarry Fire Department.
