Cannon Ball is an unincorporated community in Sioux County, North Dakota, located on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. The village is named after the nearby Cannonball River, which in turn was named after the cannonballs used by Native American tribes in the area. Cannon Ball is home to the Sacred Stone Camp, which was an important site for the protests against the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016. The community has a population of approximately 800 people and is served by the Sioux County School District.
