Les grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, then moved to Alma and lived there for seven years. She has lived in the Oxford/Edison area for the past forty years.

Les served twelve years on the Edison Village Board, and she has served on the Oxford Chamber of Commerce and is a member of St Johns Lutheran Church in Oxford.
