One historical anecdote relating to Omaha, Nebraska is the Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition held in 1898. The exposition was meant to showcase the development and progress of the Western United States and attracted over 2.6 million visitors. One of the key features of the exposition was the introduction of the electric streetcar which was used to transport visitors around the large exhibition grounds.
