1. Tilton is a small town located on the Winnipesaukee River in Belknap County, New Hampshire.
2. The town was originally known as Sanbornton Bridge, but was renamed after its first postmaster, William Tilton, in 1832.
3. Tilton is home to the Tilton Outlet Center, one of the largest outlet centers in New England.
4. The town is home to the historic Tilton Inn, which was built in 1832 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
5. The town is also home to the Tilton School, a private college preparatory school founded in 1845.
6. Tilton is also home to the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad, which offers scenic train rides through the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.
