In 1987, Broker Barbara Sancilardi held a set of keys in her hand. With excitement and a touch of nervousness, she opened the door to the first office of Century 21 Main Street Realty.
Barbaras background of real estate started at just 13 with a family business. By 16, she worked for one of the largest developers in the state, Atlantic Realty Development of Woodbridge.
Her interest in real estate continued and became well rounded as she grew, working in the National State Banks mortgage department while pursuing a degree of business management and a minor in finance. At the young age of 19 she became a licensed realtor: I was doing real estate in the evenings and weekends, which was hard but I loved it.
Barbaras expertise goes far beyond residential real estate as she has experience in commercial real estate, property management, rental properties, land acquisition and development projects.
By 23, Barbara opened the first office of Century 21 Main Street Realty:
I had to teach myself a lot because back then you didn't have a lot of women in business, first of all and no one my age. Everyone was older and was not looking to help me.
