Here is an historical event that took place within Henderson, Nevada:

- The Black Mountain School fire occurred on April 23, 1958, in the town of Basic, which is now part of Henderson. The fire broke out in the school's boiler room and quickly spread after a janitor failed to properly close a basement door. The blaze killed 16 children and one teacher, and injured several others. It remains one of the deadliest school fires in United States history.
