The Official Nevada State Quarters

Nevada State Motto: All for our country
 

The Nevada state quarter was designed and released by the United States Mint in 2006 as part of the 50 State Quarters program. The design features a wild mustang and a rider, along with a backdrop of the snow-capped Sierra Nevada Mountains, representing Nevada's wild and rugged terrain. The words "Battle Born" appear on the coin, referring to Nevada's admission to the Union during the Civil War. The date of Nevada's statehood, 1864, is also inscribed on the coin. The coin also features a sagebrush, the state flower of Nevada, as well as the words "The Silver State," a reference to Nevada's rich silver mining history.

The Nevada National Park Quarter was released in 2014 as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program. The obverse of the quarter features a portrait of George Washington, in accordance with all of the other quarters in the series. The reverse of the quarter features a desert bighorn sheep, a symbol of Nevada's Great Basin National Park. The design also features brush and sagebrush, which are common to the region, as well as the rocky peaks of the Snake Range. The inscriptions "Great Basin," "Nevada," "2014," and "E Pluribus Unum" are also included.

Great Basin National Park, located in east-central Nevada, was established in 1986. The park includes the 13,063-foot Wheeler Peak, the second-highest peak in the state, and the Lehman Caves, a limestone cavern filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and other stunning formations. The desert bighorn sheep, whose image is featured on the Nevada National Park Quarter, is a species native to the park, and is an important symbol of the region's natural beauty.
