Hector is a small town located in Schuyler County, New York. Its population is around 4,000 people. The town is situated near the eastern shore of Seneca Lake, which is one of the Finger Lakes in upstate New York. The town is named after the ancient Greek hero Hector.

Hector is primarily an agricultural community and is known for its vineyards and wineries. The town also has several parks and natural areas for outdoor recreation such as the Finger Lakes National Forest, Watkins Glen State Park, and the Hector Land Use Area.

The town has a rich history, with several historic sites and landmarks such as the Logan-Rumsey House, a two-story brick house built in the early 1800s, and the Hector Presbyterian Church, which was built in 1824.

In addition to its agricultural and natural attractions, Hector also hosts several annual events such as the Finger Lakes Wine Festival, which is held every July and features tastings from local wineries, and the Hector Fair, which is held every August and includes agricultural exhibits, carnival rides, and live music.
