Amityville is a village in the town of Babylon in Suffolk County, New York. It is located on the southern shore of Long Island, about 35 miles east of Manhattan. The village was initially founded in the 17th century and has a rich history, including being the location of a major Revolutionary War battle.
In modern times, Amityville is perhaps best known for the infamous Amityville Horror house, which became the basis for a popular book and movie franchise.
