Horseheads is a town in Chemung County, New York, situated at the southern edge of the Finger Lakes region. It has a population of approximately 19,000 people and covers an area of about 35 square miles. The town was named after the distinctive shape of two nearby hills that resemble the head of a horse.

Horseheads has a rich history, dating back to the American Revolutionary War. It played a significant role as a resting place and provisioning site for soldiers during the Sullivan Expedition of 1779, and later as a stop on the Underground Railroad during the mid-19th century.
