6. One of Palenville's most unique features is the "Rip Van Winkle Bridge," which spans the Hudson River and connects Greene and Columbia Counties. It was named after the famous story by Washington Irving.

7. The Catskill Mountain House hotel was built in Palenville in 1824 and was a popular destination for well-to-do New Yorkers until it burned down in 1963.
