Trumbull County, Ohio
.Trumbull County, in the great state of Ohio, was officially established on July 10, 1800, as one of the original counties in the Connecticut Western Reserve. The county was named after Jonathan Trumbull, a prominent governor of Connecticut during the American Revolution, who was a strong advocate for the Western Reserve lands. Covering an area of 637 square miles, Trumbull County is located in the northeastern part of Ohio and is known for its friendly and industrious residents.
The historical background of Trumbull County is marked by its important role in the early development of Ohio. In 1798, the Connecticut Land Company surveyed the Western Reserve and divided it into townships. A year later, in 1799, the first settlers arrived in the area. Trumbull County's first settlement, Warren, became a significant center of trade and industry, thanks to its location on the Mahoning River.
The county experienced significant growth during the 19th century, particularly in the areas of industry and transportation. The construction of the Pennsylvania and Ohio Canal in the 1840s and the arrival of the railroad in the 1850s contributed to its economic development.
Trumbull County also played a significant role during the American Civil War when several local companies joined the Union army, including the Trumbull Guards, which later became part of the 2nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry.

Fun Fact: Trumbull County's location within the Connecticut Western Reserve makes it a part of the region where the first true rubber product was discovered. The rubber industry became a significant contributor to Ohio's economy, particularly in the city of Akron, which is just south of Trumbull County. Akron came to be known as the "Rubber Capital of the World" due to its booming rubber manufacturing industry.
